Expert Q&A

7. “At what traffic pattern does dedicated capacity make sense?”

Frontier Development research deskSection 06 · Page 9 of 17Last updated 26 October 2026

Why it matters: a fixed capacity purchase can be attractive at steady load and costly when demand is intermittent.

A strong answer should cover: utilisation, burst reserve, scale-up time, minimum commitment, outages, discounted pricing and the cost of operating the service. The Modal conversation discusses the mismatch between variable demand and fixed capacity.

Follow-up: “What happens if traffic is half the forecast, or API prices fall?” The requested answer is a sensitivity model using the buyer’s inputs, not a universal volume threshold.
